Statement of Policy
PRSNA is committed to maintaining an inclusive community that recognizes and values every person; promotes tolerance, sensitivity, understanding and mutual respect among its members. PRSNA seeks to develop and nurture its diversity. We believe that diversity among its many members strengthens the institution, stimulates creativity, promotes the exchange of ideas and enriches campus life.
PRSNA views, evaluates and treats all persons in any university-related activity or circumstance in which they may be involved solely as individuals on the basis of their own personal abilities, qualifications and other relevant characteristics.
PRSNA will not tolerate Discrimination against any individual on the basis of race, religion, color, sex, age, national origin or ancestry, genetic information, disability, status as a veteran, marital status, parental status, sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression.
PRSNA possess policies and programs to ensure that all persons have equal access to its employment opportunities and educational programs, services and activities. The principal objective of this policy is to provide fair and consistent treatment for all students and employees.
Application of this Policy to Employment and Education
All aspects of the employment relationship, including recruitment, selection, hiring, training, professional development, tenure, promotion, compensation and separations, are administered in accordance with this policy.
PRSNA provides Reasonable Accommodations to qualified students and employees with disabilities.
Reporting and Addressing Discrimination
This policy seeks to encourage faculty, staff and students to report and address incidents of Discrimination. Discrimination complaints will be addressed promptly and consistently, using procedures that are fair and effective from the point of view of the person and PRSNA, and be resolved at the lowest organizational level possible.
Violations of this Policy
Any individual or group of individuals found to have violated this policy will be subject to disciplinary or remedial action, up to and including termination of employment or expulsion from the institution. Faculty and staff who are determined to have violated this policy also may be held personally liable for any damages, settlement costs or expenses, including attorney fees incurred by PRSNA.
Nothing contained in this policy should be interpreted as a waiver by PRSNA of its sovereign immunity, immunity pursuant to the 11th Amendment of the U. S. Constitution or any other immunity or defense available under state or federal laws.
