Eligibility requirements to apply for federal student loans

You must comply with all the institutional and federal requirements, otherwise, we will not be able to process your student loan application and the disbursement could be delayed.  We will verify your eligibility in each academic term before a disbursement occurred.


To be a participant in the Direct Loan Program, you must:

  • Be a U.S. citizen or eligible alien

  • Have a valid social security number

  • Have eligibility determination for the Pell Grant (FAFSA).

  • Have a valid username and password called an FSA ID, which is provided by the U.S. Department of Education (ED).  If you do not have an FSA ID, you can go to

  • You can not be in the Default status of a federal student loan.

  • Not be in academic suspension (please refer to the Academic Catalog)

  • Have Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP).  However, students on academic probation who have requested an appeal and who has been approved or begin in compliance with their academic plan may qualify. Please refer to the most recent Academic Catalog.

  • Have enrolled a minimum credit for the Half Time sequential program by each academic term.

  • If this is the first time that you request a loan from the Institution, the ED requires that all students interested in participating in the Direct Loan Program receive electronic Entrance Counseling and the signed Master Promissory Note (MPN) before that the first disbursement of the student loan occurs.   • Deliver all documentation required by the FSA Office, otherwise, contact the director.

  • If you have loans with other institutions you have to notify your agency.
